IRIS workshop conducted at School
On July 12, 2018 Mrs. Astha Sharma conducted a workshop for class VII to XII students on participation in the Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS) National Science Fair.
The IRIS program aims to provide a platform to ambitious innovative minds to express and implement the ingenious ideas to create a change. IRIS is a research based program that aims to infuse the spirit of discovery, increase interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and build a robust scientific temper among the young creators of the country who need to be recognized, rewarded and provided with a platform.
She briefed the students about the vision of IRIS National Science Fair i.e. promoting and nurturing science and scientific research amongst young Indian innovators. She also explained the procedures to be followed for participation in the above mentioned event. She apprised the students that they would have to submit the synopsis of research based projects across 17 subjects which would be reviewed by an eminent jury comprising scientists and experts from different domains. After this the short listed entries would be invited to participate at the Annual IRIS National Fair. The outstanding projects at the fair would be further mentored by scientists from various national laboratories and universities.
The introductory session was followed by a discussion which was very enlightening as the students got a chance to express their innovative ideas.
